Large-format porcelain, marble effect, herringbone, subway, mosaic, Moroccan pattern and natural stone. Wet walls and floors, set straight, bedded fully and grouted clean.
Tile is what makes or breaks a bathroom visually. We tile to a level the rest of the room has to live up to. Walls plumb, joints kept tight, no lippage, no spongy bedding behind your hand. We work in porcelain, ceramic, natural stone and quartz composite. Most tiles arriving on a Cardiff job are now large-format porcelain, which is brilliant once it is laid right and a disaster when it is not.
Special pattern work - herringbone, brick-bonded subway, fish-scale mosaic, geometric Moroccan - is its own craft. We have done a lot of it locally and the patterns photograph for a reason. We will lay out the centre line on the wall before any tile is set, so you can see how the bond hits the corners.
For renovations, en-suites, wet rooms, splash-back work in kitchens, hearths and stone floors. Supply and fit, or fit only if you have already bought the material.
Every job is run the same way: same team, same trades, same approach. The notes below are how we think about tiling & stonework specifically.
Slabs up to 1200x600 set on full mortar bed with the right adhesive for the floor or wall in question.
Herringbone, subway, mosaic, fish-scale, geometric. Centre-lined out before any tile is set.
Tanked, screeded and falls set right. The detail you only notice when a non-tanked wet room fails six months in.
Travertine, marble, slate, limestone. Sealed before grouting so the stone is not stained by the grout itself.

Call Simon for an initial chat, or send a couple of photos of the space and Sycamore will come back with a quote the same week.
A few photos and a sketch of the room is usually enough for a first quote. For anything structural or tricky, we come and look.
